    Ready for Takeoff!

    March 4, 2019

Just 2 days separate me from a plane heading West! On Thursday morning, Rachel and I leave for Las Vegas to begin our epic Antelope Canyon weekend. Months of training are complete, with over 500 miles logged since we rolled out of the City of Oaks Marathon in November, and into our ultra training cycle. This will be my first time running 50 miles in one shot, and I’ll be honest: I’m terrified! But with that emotion I’m also indescribably excited for the adventure ahead. I know that no matter what, this will be an incredible experience. My trip to Zion just two weeks ago only made me more anxious to explore the beautiful Grand Circle region, and I’m mad at myself for not having explored it when we lived on the West Coast and so much closer. But what better way to start experiencing it than with an amazing race right in the heart of it.

The last two weeks have been tapering, and it’s a mental game to say the least. It’s hard not to doubt yourself with the lower mileage, but I know that I have to go into this race feeling fresh. We are going to be out there a long time. So until then, my bags are almost packed. Just a few more things to throw in (don’t forget the running shoes!), and 3 more very short runs. I’m going to try to get some easy yoga in as well to work out some kinks. But I’m looking forward to seeing you on the other side!

If you want updates during the trip, check out my Instagram and Twitter which I should be updating fairly regularly.
