I feel like I was just here? Just writing a my pre-race thoughts… oh right, that’s because I booked myself for a crazy Spring! Good news, is this next race is all for fun. And for chocolate.
The hot chocolate race series falls into the ‘fun run’ category for me. When I first started running, I was all about the themed fun runs. Color run, superhero run, inflatable run, Krispy Kreme run… you name it and I was there! But one that I had never been able to fit into my schedule previously was the hot chocolate run. Either I found out about it too late or already had something booked. But I told myself this year would be different! So back in August of 2019, I was already committed to this race. When I signed up, I had the choice of the 5k or 15k and I figured, I’d waited this long, might as well go big!
After running the Hilton Head half marathon last weekend and finally obtaining a PR in that distance, and now making my way towards the Big Sur International Marathon, well this race is just going to be an entertaining long run. I can wait for the chocolate aid stations along the course (yup, you read that right, they have sweets at various spots along the course in addition to water and Nuun), and the finisher bowl of chocolate and dippables. You also get a finisher’s jacket and chocolate theme’d medal. How cool is that?
So after running a week of recovery runs, and a long run of 7 miles today, I’m ready for a few more miles this week leading up to my 15k on Saturday. So far the weather looks good (that pesky snowflake on the forecast disappeared), so I’m doing another fun road trip for the night with my friend Michelle.
