Mother Runner Gift Guide

Mother’s Day is just over a month away! As someone who is constantly eyeing new accessories for my runs, especially with Fall training on the horizon and hot summer runs in the forecast, I’ve been keeping track of some of my favorite giftable items.

A word about discounts: Many of these items are from independent brands. I love a good coupon code and am constantly on the hunt for a good deal. If a discount code isn’t listed here, I have a couple of tips to possibly find some before you hit ‘purchase’:

  • Sign up for the mailing list. A lot of companies will send you a coupon code once you sign up, especially for your first purchase. Heck, many have a prompt that pops up as soon as you log in to their page, asking ‘do you like to spend full price?’ or something to that effect.
  • Check out their social media! Maybe they have a live promo going on. Never hurts to do a quick check.
  • Finally, a quick google search of the item and ‘coupon’ or ‘discount’ might pop up some results. I find 50% of my discounts this way.

But worst case, you don’t find one and you’re supporting a (likely) not massive business by paying full price. Oftentimes a discount just means I can buy other things with the money I saved (or save it for a rainy day).

Here are my gift ideas for the Mother Runner in your life:

Sarah Marie Design ‘Mama Needs A Run Shirt’

I mean, first things first, I need this shirt. 100% accuracy. It gave me a little laugh and I love the message of yes, in fact, sometimes Mama just needs a run! Sign up for the SMDS mailing list and she emails out promotions every so often.

AfterShokz Headphones

These are high on my list as someone who likes to listen to music, podcasts, and audiobooks on a majority of my runs, but also wants to be able to hear what’s going on around me. AfterShokz uses bone conduction technology. The headphones don’t sit in your ear, but in front. I’ve been wearing AfterShokz for at least a year now, and am currently testing out their Trekz Air. My husband was so excited to receive my old pair. I love knowing that I can still keep in tune with the noises around me, especially when running solo.

Use the promo code “BRBUNDLE” to get $50 OFF Adventure Bundle (Or use the BibRave link on the linked product page above. Read my previous post reviewing my experience with the AfterShokz Air headphones here.

Roo Sport Pouch

Roo Sport Pouch

I use the Roo Sport pouch for my shorter runs to keep my phone or essentials (ID, house key, etc). It clips with a magnet and I can just attach it to the back of my shorts and head out. Very convenient with a small profile. I have several ways of holding my essentials for shorter runs, but the Roo pouch is my favorite and easiest.

Balega Socks

The runner in your life may not know it, but they need some running socks. I was talking with a friend recently who had always used their everyday socks for running and recently purchased their first pairs of runnings socks… life changing. Blisters became a thing of the past (or past 20 miles) once I purchased some good socks. Balega is my favorite brand but I also love Injiji’s. Toe socks may not be for everyone though.

I don’t have a discount code for Balega’s but my local Fleet Feet regularly does sales on their socks. Usually a ‘buy x many, get one free.’ So check out your local running shop if you plan on buying a few pairs.

KT Tape

I have an endless supply of KT Tape in my house. A gift that can be overlooked but I always appreciate it. The best deals I have found on KT Tape are buying directly from them (when they have a promo code on their site) or from Amazon. But many running stores and even Target now carry it.

Oiselle Tumbler

Keep drinks chilled this summer with an insulated MiiR tumbler with designs by Oiselle. I love all three of their designs but this one is probably my favorite. Oiselle also sends out regular promotions through their mailing list.

NoxGear Tracer 360 Running Vest

As someone who can log a lot of miles in the early morning or evening as it gets dark, visibility and being safe has become critical. Also, my kids think it’s the coolest. Different light up settings and it’s lightweight and barely noticeable. I like knowing that I’m just that much more visible when running through my neighborhood when it’s dark outside. I mostly stick to sidewalks and well-lit areas, but even then it can be hard for drivers to notice you when crossing the street or pulling into their driveways. Err on the side of caution, and add a little light to your run.

NoxGear frequently runs promos and you can also get this on Amazon.

Handful Sports Bra

Finally, it’s not necessarily glamorous, but I don’t know any runner who would turn down another sports bra. Another over-looked accessory, but critical for most of us. I generally only buy one when one falls apart, but I would love if I was actually given a sports bra because of that. It’s a treat to get a new accessory in rotation. I’m partial to the Closer bra as it offers high impact support for larger cup sizes, but they do have many other options on their site. For the Closer, you order to t-shirt size, so it’s pretty easy to get the sizing right.

Handful Closer Bras

You can get 10% off any bra with the coupon code ‘BIBRAVE.’ I also tested and reviewed the Handful Closer Bra. You can read my review about it here.
